NFL Kansas City Chiefs helps promote girls flag football.

The Kansas City Chiefs played a major role in helping girls’ high school flag football become an officially sanctioned sport in Kansas. The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) voted to officially recognize girls’ flag football as a high school sport, making Kansas the 18th state in the U.S. to do so. Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt praised the widespread community support that helped make the decision possible, including families, educators, school leaders, and fans across Kansas. He emphasized that the vote will create new athletic opportunities for girls throughout the state. To build public support, the Chiefs launched the “Let Her Play” campaign, which featured current players, fans, and head coach Andy Reid. The campaign encouraged residents to sign a petition supporting girls’ flag football, and more than 11,000 people participated. The successful effort reflects the growing national momentum behind girls’ flag football and expanding opportunities for female athletes in high school sports.
