NFL team Green Bay Packers help promote girls flag football in Wisconsin.
The Green Bay Packers are continuing to support the growth of girls flag football in Wisconsin by awarding $5,000 grants to 20 additional high schools to help launch intramural or club-level programs. Schools receiving grants also received USA Football equipment starter kits and protective headbands.
The initiative is part of a broader push by the Packers and the NFL to expand girls flag football at the grassroots level and work toward making it an officially sanctioned high school sport in Wisconsin. Schools across the Milwaukee, Madison, Fox Valley, and southeastern Wisconsin regions were selected.
Girls flag football continues to gain momentum nationwide, with several states already sanctioning the sport and more colleges and universities adding women’s flag football programs and scholarships. Wisconsin has also seen growing interest through club leagues and new collegiate opportunities, including UW-Parkside becoming the first Wisconsin school to offer women’s flag football scholarships.
